The Zoonotic Disease listserv provides the public with timely
information regarding the Department of Health's Zoonotic and
Vector-Borne Disease Surveillance and Prevention Programs.
Zoonotic diseases are those that may be transmitted from animals
to humans, and humans to animals (such as Swine Flu). Vector-
borne diseases (such as West Nile Virus, or Plague) are generally
transmitted to people through the bite of an arthropod (commonly
referred to as insects).
A special listserv just for West Nile virus, called WestNileHealth, is
also available. For more information on these programs, visit
www.doh.wa.gov/ehp/ts/ZOO.HTM.
This listserv is owned by the Washington State Department of
Health, Division of Environmental Health, Office of Environmental
Health, Safety, and Toxicology (DOH EH OEHST)
