Effective with dates of service on and after May 1, 2013, the Health Care Authority is carving out the air ambulance transportation benefit from the managed care capitation rate.

This means all air ambulance services provided to medical assistance clients on and after May 1, 2013, must be billed to the Health Care Authority, not to managed care plans. The plans remain responsible for all ground ambulance services for their enrollees. [...]
